“I would like to introduce you to the next President of the United States–” The introductory speaker could hardly finish her speech as the crowd of over 3000 fans erupted into a frenzy of cheers and chants “–Bernie Sanders!”. A young college freshman stood in the Idaho Falls auditorium; he attempted to strain his neck to see the Senator from Vermont and potential Democratic Party Nominee. Removing his long blonde hair from eyes, he seemed almost oblivious to the pandemonium that surrounded him. He wasn’t cheering, he wasn’t chanting, he wasn’t gracing the candidate with the kind of enthusiasm expected. So, why was he here? Politics have always been important to Kyle Peck, a current student at Idaho State University and active Democrat. Kyle’s political activism has been going throughout his life. It all started back in his elementary school days, the 2008 US General Election. Kyle was in fifth grade when he began to take notice to the news on the upcoming presidential election. Luckily for him, Kyle’s mother has always made a point to know who she is voting for. Kyle mentions, “My mom has always loved the news, so there is no shortage …show more content…
Yet, I loved them! I felt as though no one, in school, cared as much as I did.” Kyle’s passion for following the politics of the nation has never subsided, but it is not only politics on the national level. “On a local level, my candidates tend to lose because of the large Republican bias; I am still out trying to support them.” Throughout high school, one could always see him out helping put up yard signs for his candidates. Kyle’s political involvement has followed him into the college level. As a member the College Democrats Club at Idaho State University, he has been able to meet others with the same political aspirations. “One day, I would like to run for a local or state office, and really work with those on the other side of the
