Immigration is out of control and unemployment numbers are atrocious. If a person cannot seek and obtain a job that makes a fair wage in this country how can one be expected to contribute to society. Immigrants are pouring into our nation at an alarming rate taking jobs that our citizens should and could possibly fill, driving the poverty rate higher and higher. Unemployment is adding fuel to the fire. Large corporate conglomerates are moving jobs to much more indigenous areas where labor rates are very low causing tremendous numbers of citizens to fall into an unemployment pattern. In developing countries poverty is caused by the lack of sanitation which leads to disease which causes illness and affects the ability to hold a job which in turn affects the income and in turn leads to unemployment and with unemployment comes poverty. Likewise in the United States there is a little different scenario, we are not a third world country, our sanitation is superior to most and diseases are controlled at a much higher level, for citizens in the United States it is due to the lack of jobs, and low wages. The need for more societal understanding as well as political and economic help to provide a way up and out of poverty for those who wish to seek a better lifestyle for themselves. Housing, healthcare and education must be made affordable for all. It is a cultural challenge that we all need to embrace. Such social investments need to take place in order to insure each individual that is willing to earn a quality education be afforded that opportunity, job training should be offered all while providing childcare and counseling to the ones who cannot afford these services on their own. We in turn afford a fair chance to succeed and ensure human dignity in which every American deserves. These steps would address a multitude of problems facing the poor, if these standards were put into place we as a nation will reap the benefits as all of the individuals in poverty that can potentially become contributing members of society and allow for a more balanced societal cohesion to be formed. In 2009 President Obama implemented a program called (ARRA), American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, known as the “Stimulus program”. This program is designed to reduce unemployment, invest in infrastructure, boost education, re-vamp healthcare and enhance “green” energy while providing relief for those affected by the recession. President Obama’s primary goal with the
