Golf is the hardest sports known to man. I know many of you are shaking your heads right now, and saying there is now way however it is true. Most people think that how much you sweat and how hard you work is what makes a sport hard in fact it doesn’t. What makes a sport hard is numbers, stats, percentage points angles factors and many other things which takes more than just a big strong man who benches 500lbs. Tim Mcdonald said “Golf isn’t just a hard sport, it’s the hardest of them.” This is because you have to know how far from the flag you are, and how fast the wind is blowing from east to west or what club you need to use to hit it over the tree in front of me. All of these are situations that need to be identified by the player before hitting the ball plus i am leaving out 90% of the other things you need to know. While in football for say, all you need to know is to tackle the guy with the ball and make sure they don’t score. This is why I say golf is the hardest sport. Golfing is a sport of patients and numbers. It is very important to know how far from the hole you are or high you want to hit the ball. There are many things that determine what club you use and the loft that it has. In golf we have many different clubs, from a driver to a putter. All of these clubs are supposed to be used at the right time and the right place. Such as the driver is supposed to be used when hitting from the tee box and the putter is supposed to be used when on the green. Many of these different clubs can be confusing to a new golfer because there are up to 14 clubs in golf bag, and all of them have a different purposes. Clubs in your bag Driver The Drivers are the longest and biggest clubs in the bag. The driver is meant to hit the ball the furthest. Drivers have a low ball flight however the ball goes much farther than any other club. Drivers however are the hardest club to use because when your club is moving one hundred miles an hour, and you're trying to hit the ball at the perfect angle. It is nearly impossible to hit it on the perfect spot on the club. Matt Saternus said, “If your driving is your problem, fixing it should be priority #1” This shows how important your driver is when golfing. Your driver can put many strokes on you if you don’t fix it, from penalties to just getting out of the trees. Wood/ Hybrids Woods and hybrids are the second longest club you will have in your bag after the driver. …show more content…
Woods and hybrids can vary in length, such as there are 3 woods, 5 woods ,5 hybrids and 3 hybrids. 3 or 5 is the difference in the angle of the face of the club. Therefore the 3 wood and 3 hybrid will go farther than the 5 wood and 5 hybrid. Also when you use your woods and hybrids you will never hit them from the rough because your chances to make solid contact and get enough height on the ball are slim to none. Therefore even if you can’t hit your irons that far it will be your only choice if you want to get closer to the hole.
Irons
Irons are the third longest clubs. Irons have the largest gap of length in the clubs and take up the most space in your bag. In a regular set of irons you will have a 4,5,6,7,8 and a 9. They can vary from a 250 yard shot with your 4 iron to a 100 yard shot with your nine iron. Irons used when you are in the rough and approach shot onto the green. Knowing which iron to use when golfing is and will be very beneficial to your golf game because then you won’t have to worry about chipping and pitching the ball, you can focus on making your putts. Wedges Wedges are the second shortest clubs for golfing. They are meant for shots from less than 100
