Our world is filled with poverty and suffering it seems that hunger, and poverty is relevant all over. There are people in our society that struggle to get basic necessities for themselves and family, and there are even people in situations where they cant afford to eat everyday. It shouldn’t be acceptable in our society that some people are able to afford many different luxury items, and yet there are people in the world that are barely able to eat. It should be that someone who is in a situation where they are well off and able to donate money should be morally obligated to donate a small portion of their money to charity to prevent suffering and hunger. Not only would you feel good about yourself for donating a small amount of money but also you would be making a difference in someone’s life. Sometimes we take for granted how good we have it here in America. In America we have safety nets such as food stamps and many other types of programs to help people who need it, but in some countries that are on the poor side they don’t have any type of support systems. People might try to say if it’s my money then why should I be morally obligated to donate a portion of it to charity? Some people don’t understand why it should be a moral obligation. Although a person has earned that money and they can do with it as they please. This is a misunderstanding of what donating money to charity is all about. Donating money is a reflection of ones values it shows that you like to help people, and it gives you self worth. Just because you earned the money and it belongs to you doesn’t mean you can’t show compassion and value with your money instead of wasting it on luxury items that you don’t need but want.
