The review and rethink of Gender Inequality in Education of China.

The issue of gender inequality in education of china indicates three major ways: gender inequality of opportunities of education, gender inequality of results of education, and gender inequality of process of education. The meaning of doing research and review about gender inequality in education in china is important, even though this issue is fulfilled with complication and diversity, because it reflects how new generation impacts the future of a country.
For a long time, the education model in China has never been changed, which is called gender-neutral education. On the historical background, the Chinese government propaganda that men and women are same which in other words no gender difference exist between men and women. The purpose is to change stubborn people minds that men enjoy higher status than women, which positively impacts on increasing of social status of women. By the time fly by, it explores more and more issues. Male and female do have difference among life experience, thinking model, and behavior. That is why human beings are so wonderful, real, diverse, and independent. However, the government merely emphasizes the identity of gender and meanwhile ignores differences between men and women. Thus, when it applies to the education, based on “men and women” are same” this main social consciousness, gender inequality is generally enlarged by it which affects several stakeholders: school, parents, students, and educational resources. The school Course: the overemphasis on science and neglect of arts The school course is sum of educational content and progress to achieve the educational goal.

There are three types of courses which are integrated courses, activities courses, and discipline courses. Among three courses, the discipline course is educational content based on the center of related disciplines, which are most wide-spread, used, and significant type in Chinese schools. In traditional thoughts, the school education categorizes mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology as nature disciplines that are called li ke. It also categorizes Chinese, foreign language, politics, history, and art as liberal arts that called wen ke. These two groups form the fundamental frame of discipline courses. The courses means a lot to students, who need spend time and energy more than any other activities in school. The value of gender-neutral education depends on whether men are educated or not, which leads to school courses are not neutral and subjective. It exists a large number of gender bias. The classical example is the phenomenon at school called overemphasis on science and neglect of arts, which indicates the value of male centralism on the background of patriarchal power structures. The reason is nature science is most built by men and its content is inclined to male thinking pattern and cognition. Overemphasis on science and neglect of arts not only shows that science has natural connection with male, but it also reveals that the society universally have bias on women who study science. Although subjects like mathematics, physics, and chemistry require that students have a good understanding on abstracts and rationality, which fits men better, this does not mean female students cannot get an outstanding academic achievement on related subjects.
