An interesting pattern that I seen in the result section when it focused on women was the double standard of what is acceptable for men and women. Most participant’s thought that if they had sex often, by being a female they will more likely be labeled as promiscuous, then if they were a guy because then it would be more socially acceptable. In our textbook in chapter five, page 170 there is a section of how we learn to be a male or female. A quote from the book states, “ [s]ocial learning theory assumes that children acquire this identity by observing and imitating other’s gender- linked behaviors and by being rewarded or punished for acting in certain ways themselves (‘Nicole, you’re such a good mommy to your dolls’ ; ‘Big boys don’t cry Alex.’).” This quote demonstrates why people in society think it is more acceptable for males to be more sexually active then females. The book also notes that females are socialized to be gentler and reserved while men are socialized to be more aggressive and competitive. I didn’t find a point to contrast to the article because most point that was made correlated very well with the book. Although a point hat was made in the by the men in the article is that they think if they were women that they would have less of a desire to have sex. I didn’t find evidence in the book to compare or contrast this point with but I wish I could have. Since majority of the males made this statement I would have liked to know the psychology behind
