Would it be better if there would be four days of school a week? YES! It would mean less driving so parents would have to spend less gas which messes with the environet. It would mean less time stressing over homework and more time at home. Also we would not have to pay for lunch and gas as often so you would be saving money. It would be much better if we had four days school weeks.

When parents drive to school it means they are using gas. Using gas harms environment and that is not good. Gas is used all the time but it is used most when you are driving your car. It would be much better if we did not put so much carbon into the air ,because carbon is harmful.
It would much better if there were four days instead of five.

Not only does gas cost money but so do lunches. Sometimes there are too many kids to feed, but not enough money to pay for lunches. Most people buy school lunches but there are only a small amount of people who can get the discounts they need to buy the food, because of this several kids go without food every day. If there were four days instead of five then people would be able to save money ( even if it is a small amount.)

Some People may say that Four days of school would be bad because it would take time out of summer vacation.Even without that extra summer time we would still have a month and that is more than enough time . Others say that it is a bad idea because they would not have a place to keep here kids during the fifth day however it would be easy to find someone to watch your kids. Besides is it not worth it to help the environment, save money, and put less stress on your kids?

It is clear that we should take off a day from the school week.It is better on the environment. Its puts less stress on your kids and helps them have better grades. Not to mention all the money you would save from not having to buy gas and school lunches. So you need to get out there and you need to help make this a reality, otherwise your kids will have to go through the same things you

I believe a four-day school week is a good idea. It will benefit students and teachers in many ways. There is a lot of stress in schools sometimes. We all need a peace of mind, I know I do sometimes. Sometimes, teachers could really use a peace of mind also, maybe they wouldn't yell so much.…

“Most schools in the United States operate on the 10-month calendar that was established when America was still an agrarian country. But times have changed and many people propose doing away with this ‘outdated’ system and moving to ‘year-round education.’” American schools should convert their traditional calendars to a year-round school system. “In this updated system, schools would continue to operate 180 days per year, but they stretch out the 180 days over the entire year and take shorter breaks between each term (NEA 2).” If need be steps could be taken to expand the school week to six days instead of five.…

I do not agree with the idea of adding more hours to school days. If they do anything they should shorten school days. It is not fair that kids have to go to school any longer than what they do already. I feel that it is torture because if they do not go to school then kids can get in very big trouble even their parents can get in trouble. I do not think that it is a very good idea to have longer school days.…

For these reasons you can understand why children and teens have a hard time wanting to go to school and enjoying it. What kids what is too wake up late, hang out with friends, relax and watch television, not to go sit in a class for five days a week. This is way the question of a four week work day is being brought up. The only way to accomplish switching to a four day week for school would be by extending the hours of the usual day to almost 10 hours a day.…

Having less days in school would have less driving from parents and teachers. My Grandpa said that say ‘’if you had a bus it would be cheaper on the bus because it would be less gas, and it would be better for the buses they wouldn’t be worn down as fast. It would be less for the bus because it is one less day which means one less time to drive to school and drop kids off.” Very rarly parents have to leave work then take the kids home and go back to work then that is a lot of gas the parents have to use to go back and forth. That is what our parents would have to do but then either mom or dad would take us to school then our grandma would pick us up from school.…

Look at the chart below, the grades there proves that if we have a four day week than our grades would be off the charts by June. We should have a 4-day school week because, it gives the teachers an extra day to plan and put grades in the Gradebook, students have time to improve their grades, and it also gives one day for an appointment so they don't have to miss school. Most teachers don't have enough time to put at least one grade in the grade book. teachers would stay at school late and go to school early and still won't get enough time to put all the grades in. In the article Commentary: A teacher and Fridays, because if you have school every day but Friday, or Monday, there would be more people out of school on vacation, and or more teachers who would take a sick pass on that day.…

If we shorten the days to approximate 6 hours i believe that all these problems will decrease and students will actually attend class knowing the day is not so long. I understand that students need a full 8 hours of education for them to learn every subject required but that also can be a bit overwhelming for them and half of the time students get brainwashed for all the information and forget. Days shortened will actually have more students do homework and study. Do you think students actually want to be in a school for 8 hours straight? Do you think they care about the consequences of fighting and being disruptive as long as they're not in class?Wouldn't…

    Changing School Hours

Some schools are starting to consider changing the school schedule from five eight hour days to four ten hour days, but by doing this the concentration rates will drop, the energy will not be saved but used just as much if not more, and also it will be hard for arrangements for pick up and drop off. By changing the hours of the school day more children will fail due to lack of concentration, more energy will be used because they will go for a longer period of time, and also with parents getting off at the same time the students may possibly be getting out could result in some conflicts. One major conflict with changing the school schedule from five to four days is the lower concentration rates. Students now struggle with staying focused eight hours a day, so by forcing students to stay concentrated ten hours a day will be much harder and cause them to fail. Students cannot stay focused in class periods now being around an hour, so if the day becomes ten hours a day it will lead to longer class periods.…

    Four Day School Week

A four-day week could require longer days making it difficult for students who play sports or have jobs (Weldon 33). In Texas, switching to a four-day week would require attendance to change to hours (Yarbrough and Gilman, “4 Days”). Kathy Christie, chief of staff at the Educational Commission of the states said “This allows more districts to add sixty to ninety minutes to each day during a four-day week to make up for the time off” (DeNisco 22). Extending school time could make it hard for younger and special needs children to attend that long of a school day (DeNisco 22). Many parents of younger children are afraid a longer school day will be hard to keep the kids attention (Weldon 33).…

Four-day school weeks are superior because they would help students be generally more productive, allow teachers additional time to teach per-period and prepare lessons, and save money for the districts. To begin with, the shorter school week helps students generally do better. They have added time to recuperate between each week. It also gives them more time to pursue internships, college credit, and extracurricular activities. Attendance also benefits from the shorter week, with appointments and sports taking place on the extra free day.…

We could do the assignments that would have been sent home for homework on the extra day of school. Then we would not have to spend any of our free time working on school projects and would still have evenings and Sundays to spend with family or on activities we like outside of school. Children in other countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong are much smarter because they spend more time on their education and spend more time in school. School also gives children from abusive and neglectful families a chance to go somewhere that they feel safe, are offered breakfast and lunch and given chances to talk to people that can help them.…
