Football Scriptures In The Bible

Introduction
Today I would like to draw your attention to 2 Scriptures in the Bible, the first one is 1 Thessalonians 5:17, which simply says: Pray without ceasing. And the second one is 1 Peter 5:7 which says: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. I asked you to draw your attention on these two verses because I would like for you to remember them, not just while we talk here today butI would hope that these two scriptures stay in our minds and hearts every day.
Now I know I have not told you what the title is yet, so just in case you need to have a topic to tell somebody else what we talked about today… my topic is THE GO TO GUY. Now I know you might be wondering what I mean when I say the Go To Guy, and just how the two

In the game of football the team primarily depend on two players to put points on the scoreboard for them: The Quarterback & the Receiver. When the Quarterback has the ball in his hand, he has more than the ball to worry about he also must worry about the 5-11 defensive players trying to get to him. So he knows the best thing he can do is to get the ball to the Receiver, who can take the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. You see the Receiver is the Quarterback’s Go to Guy, and just like that Receiver must be in place to accept the ball from the passer, Jesus is ALWAYS in place to take our problems from us, so you see that should make Him our Go To Guy.
Letting Go
Let me say that again, we should make Jesus our Go To Guy, but before that can happen, we must learn to let go, yes I said let go. In 1 Peter 5:7 (which I asked you to remember), we see where Peter is encouraging the church to Cast all your care on Jesus – if you didn’t know it before Peter became one of Jesus Disciples, he was a fisherman, so in this verse he is using language very familiar to his experience as a fisherman.
Peter fished to make a living; and he fished from a boat; and in the boat, he used a net or some nets to catch the fish. One thing Peter knew was that no matter how hard he stood on the boat and wished for the fish to come to him, he wasn’t going to catch one fish until he casted his nets out in to the water. So, you see the nets didn’t

Believers in Jesus are the sheep and of course He is the Shepherd so let’s Re-look at Psalms 23:1 it basically says… Jesus is my Guide and I do not need anything.

So, since the Shepherd is providing everything the sheep need, why do you think the sheep would go down the road, up a hill, cross a valley and through some trees to get one drink of water when the Shepherd has unlimited water waiting for them in the pasture and all they have to do is make a few small steps to get it.

I don’t know about your but I would say that the sheep would be crazy for not just going to the shepherd. Well let’s be honest, we all are guilty of being like the crazy sheep we often forget about what we know and what has been proven to us over and over again to follow our own minds and advice of folks that don’t mean us any good. Jesus said in John 10:4-5 that his sheep know his voice and they will not follow a stranger, furthermore rather than follow a stranger they will run from

Temptation is like the big bad wolf in Little Red Riding Hood. It has the appeal of something good, but when toyed with, it’s actually far more dangerous and evil than we expected. The lure of darkness is tempting, enticing, like the aroma in a chocolate factory. But how do we deal with temptation? In order to know how to deal with temptation, one must know exactly what temptation is.…

Both Baxter and Witmer, in their books “The Reformed Pastor”,” The Shepherd Leader”, argue about how to be a good leader in a biblical way for Maturate Pastoral Ministry. While Baxter describes from his own point of view, Witmer harmonizes with Baxter including other points. Firstly, in this essay, we will be comparing and contrast, Timothy Witmer’s framework for leadership with his “old shepherd friend” Richard Baxter in The Reformed Pastor (1657) Secondly, we are going to Evaluate Witmer’s framework for leadership in which extant is biblical, practical and relevant to my personal context. Finally, there will be a Self-assess of my personal leadership in the church and home against this (modified) framework, with explaining strength and…

My chosen quote for my prayer experience is Catherine McAuley’s “Prayer is a plant the seed of which is sown in the heart of every Christian, but its growth entirely depends on the care we take to nourish it.” The values that I have decided to take from this quote are that of growth, care of others and self, and reflection of actions. These values link directly to the quote, as they all discuss the concept of self-growth, through ‘nourishing’ spirituality and helping others. The aim of my religious prayer experience is for my audience to understand way in which they can grow their spirituality and reflect on how they have done this in the past. I have used a combination of scripture references, quotes and prayers to create a sense of connectedness and awareness of God.…

2.1. Relational youth ministry For Pete Ward, ‘in the incarnational approach relationships are… very much to the fore’ they are, in fact, ‘the fuel on which youthwork travels’ (1997:43). Pete Ward and his training centre, Oxford Youthworks, were largely responsible in the UK for the resurgences towards the incarnational theological approach in youth ministry in the 1990s. His view could be summarised simply enough as be like Jesus by being with young people. The incarnational theological approach influences this perspective in two ways: 1.…

The Bible verse that truly touches me about Jesus’s character can be found in the book of Revelation, which stated “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” Revelation 3:20 (NKJV). My role in this is to simply answer the calling of Jesus, for it is apparent He wants to be a part of my…

Peter, once again, goes too far, claiming that he is ready to follow Jesus even to death. Yet, we know that once Peter is separated from the group and finds himself alone at the high priest’s house, his fears get the better of him. His faith fails, and he denies that he even knows Jesus. Yet, after the resurrection, when they are all together, Jesus comes to the whole community of disciples. Again, they receive Jesus with joy and fall down and worship (Shirley,…

In the Bible, there are many passages from the Gospel where Christians learn about prayer from Jesus. Prayer as many Christians already know is the communication between us and God. Jesus learned how to pray from his beloved mother Mary, the Jewish tradition and even on his own. During Jesus’ ministry, Jesus taught us how to pray by giving us instructions on how to pray and using parables in order to teach us about a message or prayer in the Gospel. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John they are five specific passages that help us learn about prayer from Jesus.…

Introduction into this book and videos covers how we need to set long term goals, but before doing so we need to ask ourselves some questions. Before we can set those goals we should seek to know Christ. This can be done by reading the four gospels and seeing what Jesus did, what we can learn from him, and how does it relate to us? Jesus’ last commandment was to go and make disciples, and while principles never change, our methods have to change in order to reach the current generation, and each beyond. As we get into the chapters we learn that men are God’s method and while they may seem unlearned or ignorant by man’s standards, God uses those willing to learn and raises them into leadership.…
