All around me is water, trees, and lily pads. Oh, and did I mention lily pads, there were more lilypads here than there are people at this lake. It was a hot day, suns out, no clouds, and then I asked if we could move spots. I thought there were no fish in that spot. There we are, my uncle and I on an old 16 foot Lund aluminum boat. It was our second to last day on our fishing trip and there was supposed to be a storm the next day. We knew this was going to probably be our last chance to actually catch anything better than a little “snake” northern. We are still looking at the map, we are trying to remember some of the spots our guide told us about earlier this week. Then I see it, it’s a circle section almost like it’s it own small pond. It has only a small entryway to it. Our map also shows that it is 30-40 feet deep, one of the deepest spots in the chain of lakes. …show more content…
The weather it just starting to change, the wind has picked up and some thunder clouds seem to be moving in. “We better hurry.” said my Uncle. “Yeah, the weather is starting to act up,” I replied. Finally we were there, well at least that's were it looked like on the map. It was a small entry way, a little wider than a car with lilypads on each side. There was an old boat dock to the left side, right when we got through the stream. “Looks like know one has been back here in a while” yelled my Uncle over the sound of the running motor. “That's good” I yelled

It was fairly slow going after that, with some sort of large fish following my fly or spinner in on each cast but never committing (I'd later find out they were Striped Bass). Finally, something bit and while it didn't fight too well I was excited, it was my very first walleye (very amusing considering I grew up on Lake Huron-currently a walleye hotspot). Lake Powell has no limits on either Walleye or Striped Bass due to their predatory effect on bait fish and their rapid proliferation, so I bonked this one on the head and proceeded to less-than-expertly fillet it. Trout and walleye for dinner!…

It all began when I was just a young boy. I didn’t have a clue about what the true meaning of fishing was. I only saw it as a way to pass time and a way to get a farmers tan. Little did I know, the time I spent fishing with my father would teach me a life lesson that I would remember the rest of my life. The way that the line spins through your hands, the way that the sun hits your face, and…

As I swished the paddle through the lake and back up, I felt the warm sunshine against my face, and cold little sprinkles of water on my hand, it felt as if someone sprinkling a salt shaker on my hand. I looked up from the water to see the air filled with beautiful green trees staring back at me. I could just smell the aroma of bushy pines. I could hear the voices of other kids and parents talking. I looked back down at Glendale lake and saw a bundle of small gray fish swimming through the clear water, and happy birds chirping a soft melody.…

All of us set off to Ponce Inlet, at about 5:30 A.M as we were leaving the dock at 6. We got onto the boat and headed off into the Atlantic Ocean, it was June, so it was very humid. The boat was clean, except for some sand, but that is to be expected, it smelt like fish, again, expected on a fishing boat, and sounded pretty quiet when we were not moving. We stopped about 25 miles out, and caught bait. We caught bait with very strong poles, with 4-6 hooks on each line, that way we caught bait about 5 times quicker.…
