Macbeth is a Shakespearean play about how an innocent soldier becomes a ruthless king, all because of his proposed fate. In Macbeth, fate played a huge role in how Macbeth as a character acted and why he had a tragic resolution. Fate is what drove Macbeth into having a tragic resolution. Before this revelations of fate, Macbeth was practically an innocent soldier who fought for his country. He was loyal to Scotland, and to his king. He never thought about defying God or the natural order of things. He never thought of stepping above his role on earth. He was content with life. However, “To be thus….. safely thus.” (3.1.52-76.) Macbeth decides to kill Banquo.
