According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nurse practitioner job opportunities are expected to grow 34 percent through 2022. Becoming an FNP came to mind. As an FNP, I can choose to specialize in adult, family, gerontological, pediatric or women’s health. I can work in a variety of settings such as clinics, urgent care, schools, home, hospitals or community-based setting. My expectation for this FNP program includes having full support and effective communication among instructors and students. I expect that clear information and direction on how assignments, paperwork or exams will be provided to students. I expect to have strong and solid knowledge and skills needed to acquire a job as an entry level FNP.
I am committed to becoming an FNP, if am not successful in this this first application, I will reapply. I know that working as a nurse and having a toddler while attending FNP program will be challenging. Time management would be one of the challenges that I will need to address. I am fortunate to have the support of family and friends. I will find a balance which will allow me to advance my career and spend quality time with family.
