Both of them work like drugs, the more money or fame we have, the more we wish to have, plus another characteristic that they share with drugs is the ability to change drastically our lives, most of the time giving us a brief sense of euphory and power followed by a long period of depression and collateral effects. The differences between the two lies on how strong is the satisfaction given by their effect. The reason why many people tend to prefer success to wealth because, incousciously or not, they desire to be noticed and respected by other people or they think they have a revolutionary idea that the world that should absolutely know about. The main reason why being rich is better than being famous is that money can be managed and the power derived by them can be kept under control but the same doesn't happen with fame. A person who has money but is relatively unknown can spend them to live a comfortable life, enlarge its horizons by traveling, making new experiences or simply enjoy the material goods and, at the same time, keeping social relationship and good friends to share good moments of life and being helped in hard times.
