At first glance of the masterpiece of Vincent van Gogh, even without the name you automatically think of night time. The first thing I notice is the tree at the right side almost reaching the top of the canvas, took me a minute to realize it was a tree because Van Gogh gave it a wavy almost flame like curve. I like this piece because its abstract and I’ve always been drawn to like the abstract expressions of art. I like the way paintings look when they don’t necessarily try and mimic reality, even though he is painting his observations by using a mental image and he uses elements of abstraction and does not try to mimic reality in full.
