Explain Why Guns Should Not Be Banned In America Essay

America should not ban guns in this country because guns don’t kill people, they are used for much more than killing things and they are our right, and there is no logical way to confiscate all the guns in the country. Although there are many valuable, and viable reasons guns should be banned in America, there are many more reasons guns should not be banned in America. Many people say guns kill people, when in all reality, there are many components that go into firing a firearm. Other people may tell you that guns is only used for killing people, and other negative things. Then there are some people who will tell you that guns just need to be confiscated. There is a multitude of reasons as to why guns do not harm people. Three main requirements have to be met in order for a firearm to be dangerous to anyone. First a form of ammunition must be inserted into the firing chamber on the firearm. Without ammunition is a firearm, that firearm in not dangerous, or harmful. The second requirement that must be met is the safety switch on the firearm, it must be on red, or more commonly known as fire. Without the safety off the gun will not fire. The third and final action that must occur for someone were to consider a firearm to be dangerous, occurs when the triggering mechanism is pulled. Without the triggering mechanism being pulled the firearm will not fire. All three of these actions have to be done by a conscious being with a central nervous system in order to become dangerous. There are four main events that lead people to believe in the idea that guns kill people according to O’Reilley (2017), mass shooting, school shooting, gang shootings, and domestic shootings. According to The Washington Post, a mass shooting is when four or more people die in the shooting in one location, this does not include gang violence, or robbery (Berkowitz, 2012).
