There is a patriarchal perspective in the bible, where women are seen as the lesser, and in a way, must be punished. This can be seen through the creation story, throughout Genesis and the bible. It is blatantly obvious that is wrong to support the misogynist depiction of women, as it is harmful to women. It is recounted in the Biblical story of genesis 1-3, the origins of mankind. It proclaims that man was created in the image and likeness of God. Therefore, the idea that because God is male, his most valued and important creation is male. It continues to push the idea of man’s supremacy in the world, leaving women labeled a subordination. A rule set by God states “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:4-3:24 New International Version (NIV))Subsequently, a woman created from a man, disobeyed and submitted to the temptation of evil.Then they were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Consequently, all women are taught to be disobedient and evil. Eve, a symbol that men are taught to guard and protect themselves against. With the help of the bible, women are now seen as weak, disloyal, deceitful, selfish, untrustworthy, seductive and a relisher of sin. Genesis acts as a form of guider and warner for men to stay away from women. All women is a replica of Eve, each woman’s accomplishments and skills are diminished as she is Eve. With this in mind, laws were eradicated to subject women into cruel and degrading treatment, taking away her status of ‘human’. As Pseudo-St. Paul stated “For I do not allow woman to teach, or to exercise authority over men; but she is to keep silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.”” (1 Timothy
