Ever After, directed by Andy Tennant, scrutinizes the expedition of Danielle de Barbarac, a young girl living in 16th-century Europe. Danielle’s lifetime is a fresh, natural retelling of the standard fairy tale of Cinderella. First, a devoted father's princess, she is now obligated to be a servant for her stepmother and stepsisters after the death of her beloved father. She is a lady who has sympathy and compassion for the people of France and desires a world that is consolidated and not divided by aristocratic labels. Danielle exemplifies the heroine archetype because of her vivid and powerful mentality, her splendid and fearless dedication to whom she admires and loves, and her remarkably unique way of conquering obstacles.…
During the events of Disney's sequel to the animated classic: Cinderella; Peter, makes a cameo appearance, flying through the town. Although he is not physically present in the film, Peter's shadow can be seen as he moves past a sign baring the royal decree, which is posted on the nearest building. Based on their clothing, hairstyles, and architectural structures; Cinderella appears to take place in the 1870's. Many of the characters outfits closely resemble the Victorian era of fashion. Considering the location of her second animated feature and the setting; we can make an educated guess as to where he might be heading.…
After reading and understanding this, I applied the morals of Cinderella to my own life, always trying be a good person and helping those who are in need as best as I could. Although my life wasn’t nearly as hard as Cinderella and my happy ending wasn’t marrying a beautiful princess, my kindness to others have allowed me to create long lasting friendships as I became older, and it showed me that everyone gets what they deserve based off how they…

The movie, The Princess Bride, is a perfect example of a Medieval Romance. A Medieval Roman consists of seven main components which are: a near perfect hero, an evil enemy, a quest, test of the hero, supernatural elements, good vs. evil, and female figures. All of these are found in the movie and some even more than once. Throughout the movie there are many specific examples of good vs. evil.…
Disney is a Farce Childhood is innocence. Young children with their impressionable minds are shaped by what they’re exposed to as they grow up. It is movies like Pocahontas and Aladdin that are incredibly misleading and set poor foundations for children to build their knowledge upon because of the raging number of historical inaccuracies littering the plots of the fairytales. Some of the inaccuracies were blatant stupidity, like having Ratcliffe planting the flag of the United Kingdom in 1607, when no such thing existed at the time. Others were more complex and involved the warping of history and time, like the grave misinterpretation of Pocahontas’ true age, name, and motive.…
Cinderella is perhaps one of the most famous childhood fairy tale stories of all time. Over the years, numerous versions of the story have been recreated and have been told to children all over the world. The original story of Cinderella follows the life of a young girl who is mistreated by her step mother and stepsisters. With the help of her fairy godmother, Cinderella is transformed into a beautiful princess and goes to the ball to meet her prince. However, she has to leave the ball at midnight as the magic wears off and she turns back into her former self.…
How much of what we do influences children at a young age? Things that we do that influence children, such as giving them toys and clothes based on their gender. Toys and clothes could be considered more purposeful way to engender children, but sometimes there are actions that parents do without even knowing towards their children. Without the parents knowing they are setting gender norms for their children and this would possibly affect them in the future. In the readings of “From Women, Men, and Society” by Claire Renzetti and Daniel Curran and the reading “What’s Wrong with Cinderella” by Peggy Orenstein, the authors write about how parents and society form children in stereotypical ways and how it creates gender norms.…
Like mythology, fairy tales stem from a rich history of oral tradition and have been used to explain aspects of society and culture. “Disney’s Cinderella” by Tennessee Reed captures an older piece of literature and places the story into modern times. The story of Cinderella places her living with her ungrateful stepmother and stepsisters. She is the maid, caretaker, and slave to the women. In this story, Cinderella is accused of “stealing (a stepsisters) dark blue boot-cut jeans and white cotton blouse by Guess?”…
Thud… Your new World Heavyweight Championship, James “Jim” Braddock… “The Cinderella Man”, Jim Braddock defined all odds to defeat Max Baer for the World Heavyweight Championship. Life Is Anything But a Fairy Tale. Sibling Rivalry, as based in fairy tales, lead children to believe that's what their “happily ever after” life should start out. From the dark depths of the Brothers' Grimm to the purity of the Disney adaptations, fairy tales have always played apart of entertainment for children for centuries. However, these tales, specifically the Disney ones, show children of a happy ending between the prince and the princess who overcome the evil in the story. In the Brothers' Grimm's “Cinderella” the heroine of the story, Cinderella, was subject to years of cruelty because of her sisters jealousy.…
Even though Cinderella two wicked step-sisters were heartless and arrogant, “she still embraced them and forgave them with all her heart and married them to two great lords of the Court”. In the Grimm’s brother’s version, the folktale ended violently and fiercely because “the two step-sister’s eyes were pecked out by pigeons for their wickedness and falsehood” and they were blind as long as they lived. According to Maria Tatar the author of numerous articles on fairy tales and also ten scholarly books, “fairy tales have modeled behavioral codes and development paths, even as they provide us with terms for thinking about what happens in our world”…
Sadly, the mother dies but the father quickly remarries a horrible woman with two daughters. The father is not in the story very much and the sisters and stepmother treat Cinderella as a second-class citizen, making her work all day, wear raggedy clothes, and be the sisters’ stylist. Cinderella mourns her mother and tends to her grave throughout the story. Instead of the fairy godmother in most other Cinderella stories, this version uses the mother’s grave and two birds to help Cinderella. (Grimm)…
Cinderella’s dream of finding her prince to marry and living happily ever after is a dream shared by many. On October 11, 2008 my dream was coming true. I had found my prince, the one I planned to spend the rest of my life with. We had our dream wedding with all of our family and friends in attendance. However, little did I know that dream would come crashing down right before my eyes in just one short year.…
