Art was a very big part of Harlem. It helped people see the real Negro inside. It showed people how the discrimination was making them feel. Dance also played an important role in sculpting the new Negro culture. One of the more known dances is the Lindy hop. The Lindy hop was an authentic Afro Euro American swing dance. It was put together using African and European traditions as the base for this very fun and creative. Dance was a way to show your happiness. Even though some of the things that were going on at that time and era were no joke, and nothing to play around about, they still want to go dance, to show all the strength that they had for on another on the dance floor. Every fight and struggle were settled on the dance floor. Enemy’s turned to friends, for that night.
