I was born on February 28, 2001 in Kilmarnock, Virginia. I have a younger step-sister, Jolie and a little sister, Keira. When I was born I had a single mom working in Williamsburg, while my grandparents took care of me at home and an immature father cleaning pools in California. *Insert parent interview! However, my birth was not the only exciting thing to occur on this day. On February 28, in 1944 test pilot Reitsch pitched a suicide squad to Hitler, in 1953 Watson and Crick discovered chemical structure of DNA, in 1975 a subway crashes in London and kills 43 people, and in1993, Federal agents raid the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Hannah Reitsch was the first female test pilot in the world. She was born in 1912 in Hirschberg, Germany. Reitsch was a “strong Nazi and an admirer of Hitler” therefore, Hannah was selected as “an honorary flight captain by the Fuhrer.” In 1937, Reitsch became a test pilot for the German Air Force. The Northern City Line train was making its way to the Moorgate tube station. The train carried many commuters headed to their jobs in the city. The subway line ended at the Moorgate station. However, as the Northern City Line train approached and passed the platforms, there was no sign that this train was stopping. “Witnesses said it almost seemed to be accelerating.” * At the end of the tunnel was a pit and a buffer, the only things there to attempt to slow this train down before it would smash into the brick wall.
