People in society have expectations that people to be like everyone else. People who are different are “bad eggs”. But is being a bad egg bad? In Tim Burton’s films Alice and Wonderland and Edward Scissorhands, he uses the protagonists who are different and don’t fit in at all. In society they were outcast, but they were just trying to be themselves. No one person should have to change who he or she is to meet society’s expectations. Tim Burton Uses long shots, lighting and color, and eye level shots to show that people don’t need to change who they are to fit into society.
Tim Burton uses long shots in the movie Edward Scissorhands to show that he is different because he has scissors instead of hands. In the real world, everyone was very pale and wore very light colors like light blue and white. When Alice goes to wonderland everyone is different colors and were different colors. The flower people are different colors and the people were crazy colored outfits and that was considered normal. When Alice goes back to the real world she gets on a boat and leaves the place where everyone has to be the same to fit in.
Tim Burton used eye level shots to show that they were accepted even though they are different. In Edwards scissor hands there are eye level shots all the time when he is with people to show that he is accepted and that he was viewed as an equal.
