In my eyes, without Enheduanna’s writings, we would still be somewhat blind to the workings of ancient Mesopotamia. We get the rare look at the culture and religion from the eyes of an individual living through the time. Another aspect that I have not seen much research on is how life in Sumer and Akkad could have been different if Enheduanna did not act as a mediator. What would have happened if King Sargon and his family did not rule as long as they did? Throughout the excavations of ancient Mesopotamia, archeologists have discovered a lot of clay artifacts of documentation; but most of them are broken or chipped making the translation difficult. “The record may be abundant, but it remains confused, difficult, and open to projections of the translator who often unconsciously interprets in terms of Western cultural norms and expectations” (Binkley). Some of Enheduanna’s work has been able to be put together completely and given the world a new insight to this time in history.
