Normally your patients are with you for quite a long time; this makes it your responsibility to help them cope with whatever disease they may have. Being an endocrinologist is a full time job, even when you are at your home, you still may be working on diagnosing a patient due to their medical tests. Similar careers include: Ophthalmologist, Neurologist, Oncologist, and Pediatrics. The main similarity between these careers is the focus on biology. All of these careers require a doctorate degree and a focus on a particular bodily system or function. Although becoming an endocrinologist will require a lot of hard work, it will be well worth the trouble. Endocrinology affects every single person in a variety of ways.
