Preamble
There are seven main goals for the economy of my island nation. My first goal is economic freedom for all my citizens. This allows businesses and entrepreneurs to have total control over all economic aspects of their lives. Therefore, any person can decide to choose to be an entrepreneur or even get a higher education and then start work. Second, I believe economic efficiency is significant for a working economy since it analyzes the allocation of resources so that resources are used to their fullest potential and without waste. The first right that the island will protect is the choice to voluntarily exchange products with others. This right protects both the buyers and sellers and allows them to have the complete decision on how to obtain or give goods or services. Buying a car, renting an apartment, or purchasing groceries are examples of voluntary exchange. The second right that the government deems worthy enough for protection is competition between a multitude of businesses or entrepreneurs to promote the same or similar products since competition allows for the creation of goods and services of the best quality at reasonably low prices. This right prevents businesses which wish to monopolize from entering while simultaneously protecting both the buyer and seller. The third right that the government protects is the right to work and supports workers by giving them the option of joining a union. This elected group will be responsible for collecting this data from the civilians by January 1st the following year. This sets a time limit for the people, yet allows them plenty of time to complete the information. Individuals who participate in the census will receive a bonus or benefit of some sort that is annually established by the committee after dropping off the paperwork at the nearest postal office, which will then deliver the information to the committee, and later be inserted into government records. Conducting a census allows the government to get a feel for the diversity, demography and wealth of Mystery Island and can aid businesses in promoting products that may appeal to individuals. Government spending can also be budgeted to aid the poorer classes in regard to getting the necessities as well as job opportunities. All in all, the census would aid the government in efforts of making Mystery Island the ideal place to live and in improving current living conditions in hopes that more people may deem Mystery Island as an ideal

Alleviating poverty is in the interest of most governments, but thriving financially seems out of reach or next to impossible to achieve by some countries. Countries that are considered first world countries today, like The U.S and China, have faced times where poverty was a major issue and economies were not creating either money or jobs, however they were able to stop the declining of their country. Sachs makes it apparent to the reader that solutions to the success of a country have to be used at the right time and, most of all, in the right country.…
