2. Introduction about Easy Taxi
Easy Taxi founder: ‘I could not get a taxi… so I created an app’ (BBC, 2014). One day, the Brazilian Tallis Gomes was attending a start-up event in Rio, he was waiting for a taxi for more than half an hour on a rainy night. Previously, he was planning to create a bus monitoring system, but this incident caused him frustration that led him to change his mind and decided to create and invest in this application. Easy Taxi is a mobile E-hailing application that was founded in 2011 in Brazil and expanded to reach 30 countries and more than 420 cities around the world. It is mobile based application on all IOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms that let users to reserve or request a taxi by just on tap on their smartphones and track it in real time. The idea was initially introduced to people in general during the Start-up Weekend RIO 2011. It connects people together, most of people's daily activities are not possible without it. In Brazil, the public transportation network is poor and as a result of that, using taxis are part of the routine of the population there, not everyone has a car, many people rely on public transportation to get them to their jobs or family or even a trip to the grocery store. Because of all this trouble a person has to go through to get a taxi an idea sparked, it was a next step in innovation and making a change in people's lives. Entrepreneur Tallis came up with the idea of Easy Taxi app which came to him after facing the problem of missing his meeting in Brazil and realizing that taking a taxi is not an easy task to do; you needed to call a cap company, go through registration, notify the company of where your location is and wait with no estimated time of arrival of your taxi (in big cities traffic jams are common). The other option was to try to find a taxi available around on the street, something even more difficult to do. What Tallis created was a model of a perfect taxi service, he created an app that let you request a taxi and gives you all you need to know about the cap that is coming to pick you up, car type, care plate, and even the driver name.
