The theoretical framework of the study can be limited to the theoretical approach of the social psychology and domain identification theory.
The social psychology was used to demonstrate in what ways one’s identity with others can influence one’s academic performance and how behavior is affected by the social world in which our lives are embedded (Reis, 2010:51).
The domain identification theory, was used to describe achievement barriers faced by African Americans and women in education sphere as it takes a situational approach, claiming that if one is to analyse the behavior of someone, the first task is to inquire into the situation that surrounds that someone (Steele, 1997: 613).
