People argue whether or not we have control over our actions. This controversial topic is expressed throughout Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet. Fate is defined as the events in a person’s life that are not preventable. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet fall in love at a party, but they are members of opposing families. At the end of Act 1, Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time at the Capulet’s party and they immediately fall in love. At this part of the play, Juliet explains that she has just fallen in love with the enemy. “My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown and known too late” (I.v.152-153). This quote shows that when Romeo and Juliet first saw each other, they did not know that they were enemies. When Juliet finds out that Romeo is a Montague, she says that she found out he was a Montague too late.
