Our appointment turned out to be in one month. We decided to wait until the day came to renovate our house so that it would be ready for rental but when we took this next step we were not sure that it would be completed. We asked a couple of friends who have relatives who went to the U.S through a similar process and they gave us hope. A week after we started renovating, a huge tragedy occurred in our family. It was 3:00 in the morning and we were all sleeping when my father’s phone started ringing. I woke up and started to think who could possibly be calling us in the middle of the night. My father picks it up and suddenly starts screaming and starts crying. I was really confused on what was happening, then I ran to their bedroom and said, “What happened?” My Dad told me that, my uncle Samson had passed away. The news was a tragedy to all of us but especially to my mom because, she had never lost a sibling before. We had no choice but to stop what we had been doing for a few weeks. After three weeks of grieving and mourning, our final appointment was in three days. No one was as excited as we had been in the beginning, but we had to continue.
