For many years’ discrimination has prohibited many minorities from being accepted into a school to further their education. Minorities impact on other students can be great, as well as in the community. Minorities should be eligible to receive help for those who are disadvantaged. Sonia Sotomayor has stated, “One thing has not changed: to doubt the worth of minority students’ achievement when they succeed is really only to present another face of the prejudice that would deny them a chance to even try.” These issues really need to be understood, many people don’t know how hard it is to grow up disadvantaged, and to think they have no future ahead. Our nation is changing, and there is no need of separating minorities from the rest. More than half of all U.S babies today are people of color, and predicted by …show more content…
Employees coming from different backgrounds can help bring in a variety of solutions and ideas that one might not think of solving in a particular way. As said by Thomas Perez, “Our workforce and our entire economy are the strongest when we embrace diversity to its fullest, and that means opening doors of opportunity to everyone and recognizing that the American Dream excludes no one.” That also includes the benefit they have from language diversity. In which, they are able to expand into global markets, but the advantages don’t just stop here. The value of having diversity increases on college campuses as well. Having a class with a set of diverse races, genders, religions, class backgrounds, and sexualities can benefit other students by having them being “exposed to different modes of thoughts and actions,” declared by John Stuart Mill. Students are able to enlarge their experiences by building on others coming from somewhere different. They are able to encounter new ideas, perspectives, and ways of life.
