It is a moral duty to practice anti-discriminatory practice. The NMC, HCPC and BASW codes of conduct/ethics strictly express the practice of good Anti-Discrimination as part of the regulations. The client groups in this field are susceptible to discrimination, and many of the problems faced as in this sector are exacerbated by discrimination.

Conflict theory, on the other hand, focuses on how power structures inequality impact on people’s lives. Karl Marx analyses society in the 19th century and finding that society revolves around different stages namely feudalism, capitalism and socialism, thus coming up with that society is divided into the rich and poor he calls them the Bourgeoise and Proletariat, The Bourgeoise being the rich who own factories and capitalised on the profits and production whereas the Proletariat working class being the poor labour force earning wages from the rich owners who exploit them.
