Could you imagine having to suffer the way that Anne Frank did during the Holocaust? Well, The Diary of A Young Girl is a book about a girl and her family are forced to go into hiding in a secret Annex because Hitler and the Nazi army are treating Jews poorly and even killing them for their religion. The social issues in The Diary of A Young Girl are that they are discriminated because they are Jews and Hitler hates them. The first part of Hitler’s plan was that he starting was discriminating Jews. He did this by making them wear a Star of David around everywhere they go. On page 4 Anne says that they have to wear a yellow star or Star of David. Also there were many laws saying that Jews were not allowed to do certain things. For example

The Franks went into hiding after they got a call saying that Margot was going to be taken to a camp. They had to pack up what they could and leave everything behind, including their cat. “ At three o’clock someone had rang the front doorbell. I was lying lazily reading a book on the veranda in the sunshine, so I didn’t hear it. A bit later, Margot appeared at the kitchen door looking very excited. “ The S.S. have sent a call-up notice for Daddy” she whispered.” (13) They hid in a secret Annex that was in Mr. Frank’s office. The Annex was behind the actual office and the door was hidden behind a bookcase. Anne spent her final years in hiding and the secret Annex is the setting for the majority of the book.
