Dale Chihuly was born on September 20, 1941 in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating from the University of Washington where he studied interior design and architecture, Chihuly went on to be enrolled in a premiering glass program at the University of Wisconsin. Chihuly went on to the Rhode Island School of Design and continued researching and working with glass. Soon after, Dale formed and taught his own glass program. Metal and glass are the primary components of Chihuly sculptures. Ever since he was a boy, Dale loved glass; in fact, he describes glass as being “mysterious and magical”. Currently, Chihuly is working as an artist in Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Royal Ontario Museum, and Schantz
