Also, it is important to mention how this social problem is addressed by the church in order to perceive how some organizations have been trying to find a solution. The reality of poverty varies depending on the country. In some cases, even children have to work in order to pay their basic necessities, most of them do not go to school. After seeing that reality, people realize that this world is more than their own lives. Poverty is around the world, and everybody think they know the concept of it just because they can see it, but it is not always accurate. For instance, the definition of culture of poverty is mostly ignored or misunderstood. People see poverty, but they do not think in how poor people’s financial situation can be affecting their culture, their worldview regarding themselves, others, and the entire world. Nevertheless, the question, do only poor people have a culture of poverty? People are affected in their life-spans by different circumstances, and that shape them as persons. People are different and they are not going to face similar circumstances in the same manner, neither with the same perspective. Many churches even have their own ministries to help people who are homeless. In some cases, people can meet every week in church and receive food, and hygiene materials. Many homeless people know that once or twice per week they can count with the church’s help and receive what they need. Also, many churches plan missionary trips, where they are in charge to preach the Gospel, but they also provide things that can supply poor people’s necessities. Some people build and paint houses for them, and set everything up for the people who cannot afford their living. The church can address this social problem physically in an efficient manner; nonetheless, how the church help people with a culture of poverty? Culture of poverty “cuts across regional, rural-urban, and even national boundaries.” (Guillemin, 1981, p.2) For instance, people that may have been poor in the past that then started to receive a high income may continue having a culture of poverty.
