These disagreements led to what is called the Cold War, a tense war in which no actual war was broken out just non violent responses to each others advancement in weaponry and space flight. It is called the cold war because nothing ever happened, if an attack did occur it would have been called "the heated war" or something else. The cold war is the main reason in which the Cuban Missile crisis ever occurred in the first place. When the United States put missiles in turkey and was able to target the USSR, Nikita Krushchev put missiles in Cuba when Fidel Castro declared Cuba to rule under communist relations. President John F. Kennedy addressed the nation on October 22nd 1962. In the address not only did he speak to American citizens but he talked to Cuba as well. "These new weapons are not in your interest. They contribute nothing to your peace and well-being. They can only undermine it.
