The difference in culture creates a Cross-culture conflict for Todd. Todd’s cross-culture conflict is shown when he steps foot in India. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of cross-cultural is, dealing with or offering a comparison between two or more different cultures or cultural areas. Todd experiences many cross-culture moments throughout the film. These moments help him realize the difference of cultures and how easily adapting to a new environment between his home country and the host country can be.

In this scene, a traveler helps him get on the train by advising him to jump on it as it is pulling away from the station. When he gets on to the train, he struggles to find an empty seat. He is offered a seat by a boy who in exchange sat in his lap. This scene is a good example of a cross-culture environment because, due to the extreme population of India, citizens are accustomed to sharing seats, standing and cramming into overcrowded train carts, whereas, in America Todd would have been considered a pedophile or looked upon strangely by other
