In Bronson and Merryam’s article, “Do Schools Kill Creativity?” They share a statistic on an IMB poll 1,500 CEOs took. The poll confirmed that creativity is the number one leadership competency. Economically it makes sense to have more people practicing creativity than not. Our world is rapidly changing and becoming more advanced, without the creativity of certain individuals we wouldn't we where we’re at today. We need the minds of creative people to mov forward and make improvements in all aspects of life. Another great point Robinson made, was the possible reason for the decline in creativity in America. I believe this has to do with that fact that children are growing up faster than before. I remember when I was in grade school my friends and I were constantly outside, as much as we could be. We always used our imaginations, wether it was going into the woods by my house to discover insects and experiment with them, or inventing new games at the playground. The current generation of children have it different, however. They’re so caught up with having the newest game consoles, or the newest phones, they’re even entering the social media frenzy. This causes them to not be as creative, they’re not using their mind to come up with innovative ways to solve childhood problems. Another problem that I see with todays generation, is how parents hand them everything they need. I’ve personally seen parents buy their children tablets to use for when they start acting up. It’s happened multiple times before, a child begins to act out and instead of the parents talking to them and making them understand the situation, they put a screen in front of their face. I believe this is where the problem originates from. The child becomes accustomed to viewing tv, or playing virtual games, that they lack the development of creativity at a young age.
