Creating A Culturally Diverse Workforce

As our society becomes more culturally diverse it will create an increasingly diverse workforce. Therefore, society and market forces have a responsibility to adapt to these shifting cultural trends. Creating a successful diversity initiative within a workforce comes with many positive impacts. “Companies that set aside time and resources to cultivate and capitalize on diversity suffer fewer discrimination lawsuits, fewer union clashes, and less government regulatory action.” (Mary Ellen Guffey, 2018) Furthermore, a culturally diverse team tends to be more innovative and can handle problem solving more effectively. The consumer can also be impacted in a positive way because a culturally diverse team can respond to their needs based on the trends within the local or global market. …show more content…
While there are many positive impacts that come with a diverse workforce there are also some negative situations that can occur. Some examples include gender tension, discrimination, sexism, prejudice, and religion based conflict. “With the balanced leadership of human resources and the sincere efforts of everyone involved, the workplace can be fair and free of hostility.” (Gutmacher, 1998) In conclusion, if we look at diversity as an economic asset and use it to create a diverse workforce it will allow our society to adapt to the shifting cultural
