Confucianism needed to have a sense of duty.All of the people should have put their family and community first. “Do unto others as you would others do unto you” (Spielvogel 288-289). All men with a great talent for governing would must likely be in in the government department. Confucius also thought that everyone should be treated the same no matter what.

Legalism was the third group of thinkers that honored men in government that might be able to bring peace to society. There was a scholar name Hanfeizi and he developed a teaching of Legalism. Most aristocrats were ok with the rule of Legalism because it was all for force and power. All of the ideas led to cruel punishments for the Chinese farmers. Hanfeizi believed that the government needed to have cruller laws for everything.
