A great percentage of college’s students are sexually active and do not use condoms. In a survey by The American College Health Association (ACHA), the statistics show that “A 64.5% of college’s students confess not used condoms for oral sex, a 12.3% for anal intercourse, and a 28.8% for vaginal intercourse” (24). The principal's cause of these alarmists’ statistics is the limited access and the embarrassment of buying condoms in public places. CDC, in the article “AIDS”, explain that “HIV doesn't prefer one person over the next – it will infect any human being. HIV has affected gay men, lesbians, heterosexuals and bisexuals. It is found in all races, nationalities and age groups” (1). As a result, it is urgent that the College’s administration installs condom dispensers to prevent students from contracting sexual diseases. They should not mind those that are against it because their reasons are based on personal points of view. On the other hand, the College’s administration sees this, as a social health issue with major consequences.
The College’s administration should install condom dispensers in all the bathrooms on campus. This project will be an excellent start to fight the AIDS epidemic, by promoting the use of condoms as protection. With this initiative, students at CCC will have an easy and discrete way to access condoms and the opportunity to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases.
