Introduction
These days, “we live in a world of media communication where we can travel great distances and across centuries, all in the comfort of our own living rooms (p. 4).” Even though it is ignorant to assume that everyone consume the media as it is, we cannot deny the fact that the portrayals of the African American culture or the Black culture has a great influence on the social construction of the culture itself. This leads to misinterpretation of the culture, which includes the creation of wrong general ideas of Black culture itself in the first place. First of all, we need to understand the meaning of popular culture. Popular culture is the culture of the mass.
