Concentric contraction is when the muscle gets shorter when you flex your arms for example when you lift a weight/dumbbell towards your body that is a concentric contraction. These are the most common types of occurs in your body as it occurs in most day to day activities. Another example of this is the quadriceps when you do a squat movement when you get down to the bottom is the concentric contraction.
Eccentric contraction is where the muscle lengthens when muscle moves so this is the opposite of the concentric. So an example of this is when you do a squat and you’re at the bottom of the squat when you start to lift up the muscle starts to get bigger and lengthens.
