A quote by Ali Harris explains compromise is the main key to a healthy relationship. The quote says “Compromise is what binds people together. Compromise is sharing and conciliatory, it is loving and unselfish”. Ali Harris emphasizes the importance of compromise and its importance in a relationship by specifying that it is what binds people together. Throughout the novel in The Lovers Dictionary written by David Leviathan, the narrator seems to most likely disagree with the quote, and just in general disagree with compromise. Throughout the novel The Lovers Dictionary, there seems to be a great amount of moments which the narrator seems to be in a troubled relationship, or in a relationship the narrator does not want to be in. At one moment the narrator explains “sometimes during sex, I wish there was a button on the small of your back that I could press and cause you to be done with it already.”(Pg.20) The narrator explains how he or she feels during intimacy, but not to his …show more content…
The narrator explains “Even if you’re the victor, you’ve hurt the other person, and there has to be some loss associated with that” (Pg.8). The narrator is hurt that he or she has lost the argument, but there was no compromise used to fix the problem or reflect any ideas in which can help solve the problem. Yes, the narrator does explain that she is hurt because of a silly argument that turned into a big one, but how does it help the situation by keeping these feelings in. The narrator also says that “there has to be some loss associated with that” (Pg.8). This concludes the idea that the narrator did not come to an understanding with the partner because there still seems to be some hurt feelings. The narrator did not agree with the idea of compromise after he or she said that because the narrator has already made up his or her mind on the situation without talking to the significant

The poem “A Poison Tree” and the story “The Cask of Amontillado” are similar in that the main characters portray a sense of fake friendliness, and instead they secretly plot their harmful intentions in their heads; both main characters get revenge on their enemies; and ultimately the end result of their actions correspond to each other. These pieces of literature do a great job at showing the effects of allowing one’s anger to grow. One similarity that these two pieces share are how the main characters do not give insight to the fact that they are mad, but both know that they are secretly plotting how to get revenge. For example, in the text of “The Cask of Amontillado” it says, “I continued, as my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was…

In the article “Why is ‘Compromise’ a Dirty Word?” written by Deborah Tannen, she discusses how the government isn’t able to get anything done because nobody compromises. The two parties we have need to give a little extra to make the ideas they have somewhat fit the oppositions need. This article explains how the two-party system is full of stubborn politicians who don’t compromise with the other party. Tannen shows this using a mixture of rhetorical devices, with the most common being ethos. A popular name is John Boehner, who was the Speaker of the House during Barack Obama’s presidency.…

Some of the most important compromises made were; The Great Compromise, The Three-Fifths compromise, and how the President is elected. The Great Compromise was made because some people wanted one vote for each state in Congress, whereas others wanted it based on size/population. It effected in the resulting Federal government in the way that the small states got equal representation in the Senate. The Three-Fifths compromise was important because since Congress was based upon population, the states that allowed slavery were obviously more populated, thus equaling more representatives. So of course the South wanted their slaves to be considered a full person.…

I am surprised that compromising or collaborating were not the highest since I do prefer to compromise and collaborate more than the other 3. My compromising score is seven, which I do agree with, but I believe it should have been the highest score. I always prefer to compromise, especially when there is conflict at work since I believe compromising is important for companies to succeed. I do believe that compromising too much is bad because, even if I do not agree with the person, I sacrifice my position just so the conflict would end and we would feel like nobody is the loser. According to the document for interpreting Thomas Killman results, it states if I overuse compromising the consequences are that I sacrifice long-term goals for a quick…

The argument creates the conflict and forms the controversy between the two sides. As said in the story, “A woman’s unfailing reaction in any crisis, the colonel says, is to scream. There was no conflict when I saw an ad announcing Maraj’s Jewellery auction, which was taking place at Frederick Street, Port of Spain, I have never attended an auction, and it so happen I decided to attend to satisfy my curiosity. In deciding to attend the auction is the latent stage of conflict, and this exists whenever individuals, groups, organizations, or nations have differences that bother one or the other, but those differences are not great enough to cause one side to act to alter the situation (Brahm, 2003). I had my passage to go and return, and the only other money I had was grocery which was to purchase for the month and it consisted of three…
