The American Revolution started mostly because of governmental, monarchy, issues and the issue of taxation without representation and the Civil War started mostly because of governmental issues and the wanting of state’s rights in the South. The Declaration of Independence said that “All men are created equal…” and the Civil War secured that idea by that statement’s literal meaning and also abolishing slavery. The Civil War solved a lot of the problems by balancing governmental power and preserving the Union that the colonists in the American Revolution fought so hard to get. It has been about 242 years since the American Revolution and about 150 years since the Civil War. Our nation has remained fairly stable after solving major issues that arose from the Revolution to ending the Civil War. We have had other freedom issues that were unsolved after the Civil War but have since then been solved. Even though the Civil War did end the American Revolution just about 92 years later, America has continued to help fight for other country’s liberation and independence of the country itself and its people within. Like stated before, if we keep fighting in every single revolution in the world, where do we stop and draw the line? Our country’s independence, unity, and freedom were secured 150 years ago, we keep fighting for other’s independence and freedom, and there are other issues that pertain to the people of our nation that need to be fixed. Yes, our unity, liberty, and freedom was secured a long time ago but the fight for freedom is continuous because in this world we live in, there can never be a perfect Utopia but the American Revolution to the Civil war was a fight for us and to preserve what the Founding Fathers and colonists worked so hard to achieve in the early years of our nation.
