For Jamestown, the main character that helped them was Pocahontas. She was generous to them by providing them some supplies in order to survive the winter. She was basically the only one captain Smith would acknowledge, but again the reason would only be because she helped them. Unlike the rest of the Native Americans, they did not help them and only did in that moment because it was Pocahontas who told her people to help Jamestown. For the pilgrims it was the same, just that they each helped each other. The Pilgrims and the Native Americans at least got along with each other and didn’t end up fighting each other. But for Jamestown, they had gotten greedy and they started to dispute with the Native Americans. Just like they have similarities, they also have their differences. In the very beginning the difference begin to appear within the stories. One of the very first differences that is depicted in the stories is the people they had traveled with to the new world. In the General history of Virginia the people there didn 't treat each other with care, they focused so much on money which made them greedy. At one point Captain Smith held the concept of “No work, no food” this is what caused a lot of the people to starve. Also when the Native Americans had helped them they had “nourished such ill conceits.”(john smith 71). In this phrase it shows how the people who were helped by the natives, by bringing them some supplies like food, had made them greedy for more of their support. It only shows that they only wish to survive even in some ill or greedy. intentions are to be made. This greed is what made them suffer even more later on in the story. If they had only looked out for each other and worked together to get settled in they would have probably suffered less.
