Comparison/Contrast Essay
College in Kenya vs. College in Minnesota
College is an important thing in our life. Students can be in college for more than six years in order to get the knowledge that is required to work in a particular field. Of course, those years are broken down into several levels, for example doing the generals and then taking the courses for their major. The two most important moves I did are when I went through a college in Kenya and college in Minnesota. Even though I think they are similar on the side of education, there are big differences between them, like financial assistance, greater access to technology, social environment, and their mentality.
It is true to say that college in Kenya is more expensive than college in Minnesota. Of course, it provides a level higher of education, but having such high fees does not give a chance to someone coming from a family with low income. Majority of students in Minnesota don’t like to study or do homework because they know the government is there for them, but one missed assignment in Kenya can prove to be a fatal decision, and that makes students to fail the exams and the government don’t help them. I believe everyone should do assigned homework, regardless of circumstances, and take the opportunity of using the library and the computer lab because students in Kenya don’t have the access of computer labs and libraries. School is something that has to be completed if a desirable career path is to be obtained. If students in Minnesota combined their opportunities with the mentality of Kenyan students, the world would be full of intellectual, rounded people who would be destined to succeed and meet their
