Communication Apprehension can be very challenging at times. I know it is a very complicated thing to deal with and many people really have issues with it to the point where it literally affects their work experience. I can remember a situation that I was in at work. I was told that I had to present an award to the principal at a school program that was going on at work. I was told that I would have to get on stage and speak to the audience about the type of person that she was. I was like, do you want me to lie, because she clearly didn't do the things that she was supposedly getting the award for. I was just flabbergasted about the whole situation. I did not agree with who they were presenting the award to. I believe in being fair and I know that we voted on who would receive the award and everyone that I talked to said that they had voted for someone else, so, I was trying to figure out how in the world did it end up like this. …show more content…
Of course, we decided this among ourselves, so no one else knew of our plans. Well anyway, I am very stage fright and I really didn't agree with the outcome so I knew that I would have a hard time presenting this award. To make a long story short, I asked another coworker to present the award because I just could not do it. I turns out that, I was the one to receive an award and I still had to go on stage in front of all of these people and speak. This was the most uncomfortable situation that I had ever been in, in my whole life. I was so nervous that I could hardly breathe. I was like, someone could have told me so I could have prepared myself for this. I took the self-test for Communication Apprehension and my scores

I do not think Dr. Fend should get the award since he was caught and was punished for his “disobedience”. Another reason is because he never told anyone about what he had done, his daughter had found out after 15 years of research. I think that because since he made it obvious and he got caught which gave him a punishment by the Chinese Government. I don’t think Irene Opdyke should get the award since she only saved 16 people. Jose Castellanos saved 50,000 people and Irene saved 16, so that is my reason for Irene not to get the award.…

However, that award would not have been possible without my team and co-captain. Together we had to work to fundraise over $1,000 each year we participated. That took coordination and communication. Especially since all of money was raised through events we held and not through donations. Me, my co-captain, and my teammates all had to work together to make that happen.…

But when she got to mine and another student's award, she said that it was going to “make her cry”. As she called my name though, I felt really accomplished and proud with myself. I worked hard to improve my musical skills and technique that year so getting that award felt really good. After we finished with the awards, the class went into the band room and took some pictures there while we were waiting for the bell to ring. I was a much more awkward person back then so that was weird.…

Interpersonal communication is the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people. It is a person-to-person contact, it includes everyday exchange that may be formal or informal and can take place anywhere by means of words, sounds, facial expression, gestures and postures. Two significant learning points for me during this course was in module 3, using the I-language instead of you-language which gives power over our thoughts, feelings and emotions to others. To take responsibility for your own feelings, rely on I language rather than you language. I language owns thoughts and feelings and does not blame them on others (Wood 125).…

Communication shares ideas, thoughts and feeling with others. However, effective communication is contingent upon the context in which we live as well as the audience to whom we speak. For instance, communication has a huge role to play in the workplace as managers try to get the best out of employees. As managers soar to top management positions and roles change, many fail to upgrade communication skills. Personally, it is a place of isolation.…

Over the summer of 2016, I declared my major, Business Administration, and during the Fall 2016 semester, I began my journey with PCJ215: Business Communication. Amazingly the semester went by quickly, we are down to the last few weeks of class. Throughout the semester, I have continually referred to the textbook to assist with my writing, and I have found this course to be one of the most valuable courses I have taken. Communication and writing were not my strong points, and I realized this class would take an extreme amount of time and effort to complete; this proved to be true. My determination to be successful forced me to work hard and overcome barriers.…
