So during the period of “containment” the United States was encouraged by officials to create weaponry like the ones that ended WWII and in turn started an “arms race”. When the U.S. created the Hydrogen bomb or The “Super bomb” the Soviet Union soon followed suit with the same weapon of mass destruction.
