She was left unemployed after her employer decided on budget cuts which meant she and a few other employees lost their jobs. At this time she was also facing divorce where a case of domestic violence was opened. Her former husband was very uncooperative whom left her with no money or support which meant that she had to care for herself and her son. Her son was leaving for university which costs allot of money. The thought of losing her home or not being able to send her son to university due to financial issues, made her worry. All of these factors resulted in depression and anxiety which basically forced her into CBT therapy due to suicidal tendencies.

After her eighth session, Bianca informed her therapist that she was feeling better. She started exercising every day and participated in social activities. These activities improved her sleep pattern which made her feel less resentful and angry. Even though there were still a few practical challenges in her life, Bianca obtained the ability to recognize a moment when she was engaging in distorted or “incorrect” thinking. She still had a long way to go, but she now had a few techniques up her sleeves to prevent her from repeating her previous patterns.
In summary, Cognitive behavioural therapy is a therapy through talking. This is used to assist you in managing your problems through changing your behaviour and how you think. During sessions the therapist helped Bianca in becoming aware of her thoughts. They examined these thoughts in the hope of finding a solution to replace the negative thoughts with positive ones. The last step of CBT was to change Bianca’s thinking pattern to ensure a more positive and happy
