I knew exactly what they were looking for and this research was important for two reasons. The first reason is that global warming is a real issue. Prior to today I would have never linked SIDS to a rise in environmental temperature. The second problem is parents need to be made aware that if a baby becomes overheated, he or she could die. There are tons of speculations on what causes SIDS but I feel that this research has a strong enough likelihood of being true that this should be passed along as a warning. I think that this article was written very well because it gave necessary background to make the reader understand why this study is important. I also felt that it was a simple enough read that many people could read it, regardless of their experience. I wish they had collected data for the winter months because some of those months could have had warmer days at times. They said that babies die occasionally due to their underdeveloped thermoregulatory receptors so I wonder if there are any studies done for babies that had on too many layers of clothes and SIDS. However that type of a study maybe harder to do because the parent may not remember what the baby was wearing nor might they be able to recall what their thermostat was set to at the time of the babies’ expiration. I’m a mother, and this article emphasized the importance of keeping a baby clothed suitably at all
