The exchange of foods, diseases, natural resources, and ideas that followed made immeasurable impacts on the cultures, wealth, and health of peoples worldwide. Empires were born and empires died as people faced unprecedented and irreversible change. Some say this event heralded in the first Global Society that has continued to grow in complexity into the world we know today. One thing is for sure, it was the end of the world as they knew it.
