On September 18, 1895, the first spinal manipulation or adjustment was performed by the founder of chiropractic, Dr. Daniel David Palmer. Harvey Lillard comes to Dr. Palmer because it had been seventeen years since he could hear. Dr. Palmer did and exam and found a bone out of place in Harvey’s spine, and just like that the first chiropractic adjustment was made. Then Harvey could hear (“Int. Chiro. Assc”). There is more to chiropractic then just getting out of neck or back pain. Most people do not understand the true benefit of a chiropractic adjustment. What is the nervous system? Why should insurance dictate what people can and cannot do? Some call the office and ask “is it safe?” The Doctor of Chiropractic, is required to go through more hours of study and schooling that a regular Medical Doctor. Doctors of Chiropractic are required to spend 4,200 hours in the classroom, labs, and clinical experience in order to get their required certifications and boards (“Latest News”). After the model, Katie May, had recently passed away from a stroke that they said was caused by a cervical adjustment. (McCarthy). Other people do not want to go to a chiropractor simply because they have had a bad experience at another chiropractic office. At our office we have good success rates. We had one couple who had been trying for years to have a child. After about a year of chiropractic treatment the gentleman came to us on one of his appointments and told us that he and his wife were expecting. We were so excited for them. Now the whole family is under chiropractic care. Yes even children need chiropractic care. Children experience many falls and bumps when they are younger and developing.
