Rosenthal and Jacobson went to an elementary school and had students take an IQ test. After it was completed they told the teachers that a select few of those students were especially bright. However, the teachers did not know that these students were selected at random. At the end of the year these same students were tested again and did significantly better the second time. These men confirmed that when teachers hold higher expectations for certain students they tend to meet those expectations.
